Hi, meet Dee Zire. She built her first home with a basement and took pictures
during each step of the way. Follow along and see how easy it was.
After she chose the perfect plot of land she got out her building tools
and plotted her foundation making sure that she built it one square wider all the way around than what she needed for the basement.

Starting one square in, she plotted her basement by making sure the basement tool was still selected and holding down the CTRL key to remove the floor tiles from the foundation, making sure she left at least one square between the basement and the outside wall.

After she plotted the entire basement to her liking she viewed the lowest level.
Then carefully selecting a wall covering that had a border at the bottom..

she painted a section of wall near the center to act as a guide for the depth of digging.
She found that using a shovel helped to lower the terrain.

Getting a birds eye view made it easier to locate her digging spots.
Once she reached the bottom of her painted wall she knew she dug to the correct depth.
Still using her trusty shovel, she started to level the terrain.
Starting at the leveled spot at the base of the wall she was able to move the dirt more quickly by dragging her shovel along the bottom until all of the basement was leveled perfectly.

Once she had the basement dug she was able to paint the walls in any number of ways and also laid the floor.

Taking a quick break she was able to see her progress from the ground floor level.
She even tested her handy work by placing a test section of floor to make sure the structure was sound.
Rested, she got to work on the staircase. She realized she could use either a staircase or connecting stairs and railing to get from the main level to the basement.

All that was left was to install the floor for the main floor and then start the rest of her house and furnish it.

But first she needed a shower, after all, it WAS a busy day!
